Come Around 03:41
I wanted to tell you to go and loosen up but I know there's a chance that you'll take it as an insult. Honey, who wouldn't? So I'll say nothing at all and I know you'll come around when you want to Wish I could explain, got nothing to say, staring out at a straight line I'm weaving in, weaving out, and the mess I leave behind. But you're always going, and darling you don't stop. We all need some time and a moment to figure it out. Getting lost in a daydream. Awake and wandering around See I know you'll come around when you want to Wish I could explain, got nothing to say, staring out at a straight line I'm weaving in, weaving out, and the mess I leave behind. You pile and pile and pile the worry on How long now can you worry til' it's gone, it' it's gone? But you're always going and darling you don't stop. We all need some time and a moment to figure it out. Getting lost in a daydream. Awake and wandering around See I know you'll come around when you want to.

It’s Only Temporary It’s only temporary A time that feels so new, This thing that gives you heartache, will flow to something new. It’s only part of living life, And soon you’ll be freed of, The good, the bad, the nothing at all, Embrace the ones you love, ‘cause they’re only temporary too. They’ll be no talk of wasted time, no talk behind our backs, The plans we had and lovers at hand, a place they’ll all soon have. It’s only part of living life, And soon you’ll be freed of, The good, the bad, the nothing at all, Embrace the ones you love, ‘cause they’re only temporary too. It’s only temporary A time that’s been infused, No beginning or an ending, it flows to something new. It’s only part of living life, And soon you’ll be freed of, The good, the bad, the nothing at all, Embrace the ones you love, ‘cause they’re only temporary too.

By the Gate 04:08
“Wait by the gate,” her darling asked, “I will not tarry long.” But it’s been three days since last they kissed As she slowly turns to sone. He promised he would hurry back With a suitcase and a plan. He’s working on the grandest scheme To keep them hand in hand. How long must I wait, how long til I hear back from you? Too late to save face, in their whispers I hear the word “fool.” Days flow, the rains fall, can’t make out one drop from another Oh as I wait for my falsehearted lover “Come home, come home,” dear mother pleads And sister begs every day. But I have not strayed from this here gate Since first he slipped away. The old gray stones along the fence, The green that climbs the gate, And my forgotten shade of blue An interwoven fate. How long must I wait, how long til I hear back from you? Too late to save face, in their whispers I hear the word “fool.” Days flow, the rain fall, can’t make out one drop from another Oh as I wait for my falsehearted lover

Lately I've been late for everything seems like the best of things they just pass me by. It's like looking at a photo album that ain't even mine What will I hold to show the passing of time? Lighten up you say. Have a drink on me, Come on, lighten up Diane. And as the jukebox plays and the lovers sway It's here I realize you don't give a damn. Well there's something sad about that jukebox playing how the lights only glow in time, only glow... Like how we only meet when we are undercover Never with a friend or family 'round. They all say that I should put you down. Lighten up you say. Have a drink on me, Come on, lighten up Diane Why don't you call it a night? Go home to your wife. Or is she sick to death of you, like I am too? Hear the jukebox playing, see the lovers swaying Come on lighten up Diane. I'm gonna call this night. Go home to your wife Come on lighten up Diane.

Another Day 05:17
Another Day I realize the danger when you hold me Standing still means time went by I didn’t see What of all the joy that I once dreamed of Looking back I see I’ve changed or didn’t believe Another day later Of a life to refine To all that is real Leave the lusting behind And soon we will find A beauty so rare A truth that is learned Oh, it’s just another day I realize the changes that surround me All the choices along the way that lead me here And here is where I’ll stay if you’ll have me ‘til time and tide moves on, I’ll never leave Another day later Of a life to refine To all that is real Leave the lusting behind And soon we will find A beauty so rare A truth that is learned Oh, it’s just another day

Tip Jar 03:55
I’m tired of living on the outside Looking in at all the happy folk Sleeping when everyone’s working Working when everyone’s living it up And I know what they say about good intentions Walking in someone’s shoes and the grass being greener Yeah, I’ve got my own row But if I don’t wake up tomorrow promise me that you’ll Go collect my last paycheque, get it signed over to you Empty out the tip jar, tie one on real wide Drink to life and living, like it’s your last night alive My friends I know are getting tired They say I’m bored and I’m killing the buzz Even when I get what I want I’m in the same old place I always was And I know what they say about good intentions Walking in someone’s shoes and the grass being greener Yeah, I’ve got my own row But if I don’t wake up tomorrow promise me that you’ll Go collect my last paycheque, get it signed over to you Empty out the tip jar, tie one on real wide Drink to life and living, like it’s your last night alive

Money in, is money out. I'm left wondering why. Lord if he could, he'd take a cut of the happiness money can't buy. I've been up, I have been down. Fallen flat on my face Ought to change my number to 1-800-RAT-RACE Can't win all the time But a little bit of time can tell Tell you all you really need Amongst the guarantees We don't need too much Just a little love and some Friends to help through the tough times Some of them will try to break Break your spirits and replace Heart of gold with a worried mind Got to leave them folks behind We don't need too much Just a little love and some Friends to share through the good times Round tables and table wine Fiery faces on a starry night The break of laughter on the long drive There's always someone there to remind.

Leaving Thunder Thought I found a place A place where everything was so right A quick escape from routine life Thought I found the man The one who’d make everything right So I could slow down my stride ‘cause I’m not like any others to vanish leaving thunder when I come around, I’ll come around all in the right time no use pushing ‘til it’s done save time for living it’ll vanish like the sun then the place went down all my love for music turned around all the ghosts and all the crowds then he set me free the one who held it all together I found my face and knees to the ground ‘cause I’m not like any others to vanish leaving thunder when I come around, I’ll come around all in the right time no use pushing ‘til it’s done save time for living it’ll vanish like the sun

Look at the moon, silver and bright, there's no need to stare. But if you did, would it be alright to lose yourself in the Night? To disappear, and to return, like you come in from the cold. But who's to know if you'll make it round, a satellite lost on the ground. Can you feel the pull of tomorrow? Are you stronger than the ocean? Will you be out til the sun's first light, out and lost in the night? You're no alone, not in the dark, glossy smiles reflect a glow. That's how you know it'll be all right, cause we're all lost in the night. Can you feel the pull of tomorrow? Are you stronger than the ocean? Will you be out til the sun's first light, out and lost in the night?

Begin Again 05:02
Begin Again When you have what you had just a little too late Does your heart beat the same way it used to When you find what you had on the way to today Does your mind wonder which way to go Let your life do the leading Give your memories away Let the loss go on teaching you Now’s the time to be in Let’s begin again You have tasted, abused, a world protected and fueled By desires of fame and illusions When your words and their sound can’t be rearranged To reflect all the strangeness you knew Let your life do the leading Give your memories away Let the loss go on teaching you Now’s the time to be in Let’s begin again

about

El Coyote started as a Friday night kitchen jam to get through Montreal's never-ending winter as six local musicians, each with their own music careers to contend with, got together to play the country, folk and bluegrass tunes they grew up on. They started bringing originals to the table and by the time Spring arrived, the friends had amassed a collection of original folk-country tunes with beautiful harmonies and rich arrangements featuring acoustic guitar, upright bass, dobro, pedal steel and even drums. Recorded in Montreal at the Treatment Room studio, this album is the collection of songs that got them through winter.
